Fiona

January 20, 2007 - It is going REALLY well! Fiona, renamed Princess Fiona by the kids, is a real joy and she fits right in as if she was always here with us. There is not a thing that I would change! She is really such a good girl. She gets along with everyone she meets, human or otherwise. During the Holidays, she met a ton of new people and there was never an issue, nor did I expect one. She is so easy going. She is truely sweet and lovable. Fiona adores the kids, plays and runs with them outside, gets a bit "rambunsious" at times, but that is easily calmed. She will give almost anyone her favorite toy and her favorite spot at night is on our bed! We couldn't be happier! She has graduated out of her crate during the day while we are gone and she is very well behaved. I am very proud of her. She truely makes a wonderful sister to Clarabelle and Sam. Sam licks her ears at bedtime (he just started doing this within the last 2 months or so), a true sign that he has accepted her as one of "his" own. Fiona is a wonderful addition to our family and we are thankful for her. Here are a couple of pictures. "

July 9, 2006 - Fiona was adopted by Trudy & Peter from CT. Trudy writes:
"Fiona is doing real well.... Her check up went well yesterday. (They all love her just as I knew they would) She goes potty outside, loves to play with Clarabelle (its funny, Fiona will pull Clarabelle's tail when she wags it!) has a blast running around in the yard. She is figuring out that Sam really doesn't want to play rough but he is sharing the ball with her which surprises me. Fiona comes when I call her, she sits and lays down when I ask her to!! Both nights, she has slept well and she's been quiet. The first night, we put her in Clarabelle's crate upstairs (Clarabelle wasn't fond of that idea at all ) so, last night we picked up all the shoes and gated the dogs upstairs, let Clarabelle have her crate, and they all slept fine. Fiona eats like a lady, I sit on the floor with her and put her bowl in my lap and pet her as she eats and Fiona doesn't mind at all. She takes a treat like a lady also. I am impressed. She will try to beg for food at a meal, but then will go an lay down in a few minutes. She is also playing with toys very nicely and will give them up when we ask for them!!!

All around, she has been very good. I expect that as she becomes more comfortable with us, we'll see some changes but I feel that we are off to a terrific start. She is just so good natured... So happy.. And so soft!!!

It must have been hard for the people to surrender Fiona, its obvious that they spent time with her and loved her very much. I know they must miss her.

Have to tell you.... It was great.... When we got home from the Vet yesterday, Fiona was SO HAPPY to see Clarabelle and Sam!! He whole back end was wagging!! You could just see the happiness in her expression. I told her she was HOME!!!

I can't Thank You all enough for letting Fiona come into our home and in our hearts. I will keep you posted on her adjustment! Have a GREAT Day."

Fiona was surrendered to a high volume urban shelter because of "landlord" issues. This adorable long-coated rottie (a recessive gene) has a fabulous personality. Fiona has lived with children and gets along with dogs her own size. Fiona knows some commands, and appears house trained. Fiona is in Hudson Valley New York where she waits for space in foster care in New England. Local residents (Northern NJ and Hudson Valley NY) are encouraged to apply. Fiona will be at Pet Fest at Hudson Valley Kennels in Montgomery NY on JUne 17. Please visit her there.
