Lucy

Septemer 12, 2006 - Just one year after Hurricane Katrina, Lucy was adopted by Cameo and Mike. Cameo writes: "Thank YOU gals so much. To spend so much time and energy rescuing and then fostering such wonderful babies! I'm glad you have such a robust adoption process. It would be awful to have such wonderful babies go to unsuitable homes.

Are you sure that Lucy is older than Rocco? I swear she out plays him! Since Wednesday, half the time he wants to chill out on the deck long before she wants to stop playing.

Some quirks about Lucy... She potties on command ("go potty") when on leash, but doesn't when
off-leash in the yard.

She gets super pesty and mouthy when she needs to go out, instead of barking. It's hard to distinguish this from her affectionate nature, so she's had 2 accidents in the house because she let us know, but we didn't know she was letting us know.

She can jump into a perfect sit for a hug right into your lap on the sofa. I love this, but have to discourage her from this since we don't want the doggies on the sofa. I think this will be super tough, since it's obvious they've both be allowed on the furniture :) They both know, but still try
to push the envelop.

Lucy likes to sleep with her head between Mike and my head. Cute. Rocco likes to sleep with his butt facing us. Not so cute since he tends to be gassy. LOL

We love them both and they love each other. They run laps in the yard playing chase me. I don't think that we could have found a better match if we tried."

Katrina Survivor.

We know that, a year later, you're asking how we could still be taking Katrina dogs. With people returning now to the Gulf Coast and facing difficult housing situations, they are forced to surrender the animals that they have kept safe for the last year. Some people turn them in at the shelter. Others just let them loose.

I love Lucy and YOU WILL TOO. This spunky 12-18 month old girl probably lived through Katrina, but clearly had no negative effects on her. She is just fantastic - her foster family reports that she's house broken, crate trained, and a quiet guest. This 62 lb girl is all personality. She chases her natural tail and entertains herself with toys for hours. She loves to please, loves people and loves life. Lucy is working on her basic commands (sit, 4-on-the-floor, and not mouthing) and walks very well on a Gentle Leader. Lucy is appropriate for kids over 10 and would LOVE tolive with another dog with her energy level. She has puppy bursts of "speedies" every day and runs circles around the elderly dogs in her foster home.
