Duncan

October 26, 2007 - Sherry writes: "Duncan has adjusted very well to his forever home.  He is an outstanding canine citizen.  He still sleeps in his crate, but is very trustworthy in the house when his people have to leave for a short time.  He loves his rottie sister Gert.  They share toys and the couch without a problem.  We go for a walk every night and I walk them in tandem.  They love it.  Duncan was diagnosed this fall with a thyroid disorder.  This is very easily managed with daily medicine and he is doing very well.  Duncan is an absolute joy and we can not thank you enough for allowing us to provide a forever home for him.  I recently sent Dale some new pictures. "

February 21, 2007 - When we brought Duncan home he had to be in his crate when we left and at night.  Duncan now has full run of the house when we leave.  He has perfect house manners.  He is such a good boy.  He is still in his crate at night.  He really does love his crate.  Our other rottie "Gert" sleeps with a pillow, so we decided to try a pillow in Duncan's crate.  He loves it.  He actually sleeps with one leg under the pillow and one leg on top of the pillow and his head on the pillow.  It is like he is hugging the pillow.  He is so cute.  Duncan and Gert absolutely love fresh snow.  I will send the pictures of Duncan and Gert playing in the new snow.

September 17, 2006 - Duncan was adopted by David, Sherry and their rottie Gert and moved to his forever home in Maine on September 17, 2006.  Sherry writes: It is so hard to believe he has only been with us 4 months.  It seems like he has always been part of the family.  Duncan lives in a large house with 11 acres to run and play on with his new "sister", Gert and his new "mom and dad". Duncan and Gert just love each other.  Duncan is an absolute joy.  There is not a day that goes by that he does not make us laugh.  Although he is about 100 pounds, he doesn't know he is not a lap dog.  If you sit down, you can bet you are going to have company.  I have to admit, he makes a wonderful snuggle buddy.  Duncan has completed obedience training and is a star canine citizen.  Duncan and Gert were the centers of attraction throughout the Holidays.  All of our Holiday guests fell in love with our two "children".  Duncan and Gert go with us when we run errands and we go to a local college and walk them by the pond and people are always amazed at how well mannered they are.  Thank you so much for allowing us to make Duncan a part of our family.

Meet our latest newcomer! He is about 2 years old,  and has been at the shelter since June 7th.  Looks healthy. . .very healthy!!  I guess he likes the unlimited buffet (this particular shelter free-feeds the dogs). Today they will neuter him and cut the collar from his neck!! It is not embedded,  no one could get it over his head.

He is a nice boy,  friendly,  very kissy,  does not jump on you,  but loves to be touched.  No food issues and while he will walk away with the rawhide,  he drops it readily at the sight of a cookie!!!  Sits and takes treats gently.  I like him. . .he is housed compatibly with another male Rottie, and has perfect structure with other dogs. Duncan's best friend is a Westie. Duncan has not been tested with cats, but goes to the grooming shop daily with his foster mom.
