Shelley - Now Annie

December 24, 2006 - It's Christmas Eve, and Wendy & Tom drove down to NH to adopt their newest family member, Shelly!

Wendy writes: Verona used to be called Orphans Island, way back in the 1700s because a large family of children were suddenly left without parents. They owned most of the island, thus it was called Orphan's Island.  We decided to rename our girl Orphan Annie.  You were so right, she is very intelligent, and has quickly adapted to her new name, as well as a number of the words and phrases that we use, like--time to go to bed!, go pee!, wait!, easy, etc. Sure that you used many of the same words and phrases that we do, but sometimes she looks at us with a very puzzled look.  What a well behaved dog though.  We love the way that she comes on call.  Today was the very first time that we heard her bark.  That is very nice too, that she is quiet.  We took her to our vet last Friday, just for a check up and she made out very well, as we expected that she would.  We do have a favor to ask of you, however.  A couple of days after we arrived home, Tom went on the computer to look up Shelley and print off her information from "her page" on your site.  We wanted to send it to his mom, dad, sister, niece, in Florida, but by that time it had been removed.  We would love to get a copy of that, not only to share with them, but to have a copy for ourselves.  Hope that it is possible!  And Thank you in advance.  Oh yeah, and my VERY FAVORITE thing about Annie is that when I get carried away, and stay up to watch David Letterman, she will sleep in with me!  No getting up early with Tom for that girl!  Hope this finds you all well!  Annie sends her love and wants you to know she is adjusting beautifully to her new "forever home".

Shelley was surrendered when her owners were evicted. This 5 yr old girl passed her evaluation with flying colors and loves everyone. Shelley knows a few commands, is house trained, and rides well in the car. Her former owners indicated that she is good with other dogs (we've seen this) and children. Shelley is well socialized and friendly and looking for a stable, long-term relationship. Please fill out our adoption application if you are interested in any of our dogs
