Safira

February 18, 2010 - Tara writes: "Jersey has mellowed out and loves roaming the house when we are out - especially sleeping on 'her' chair. Of course, she will jump off of it if she thinks Paul is about to come in the room! Unlike our former dog, she does not enjoy carrots or bananas but does like all things meat and Frosted Mini-Wheats. Like so many dogs, she gets Frito-Feet - which I just love! She did get loose once last year and was romping around like a happy dog (but appeared crazy to others) at the Bunker Hill Monument. Yup, we got a ticket but Jers thinks it was worth it! "

January 9, 2009 - Paul and Tara write: Jersey has filled out! She responds well to most commands. She gladly shares her pet bed with Maura and her 'friends' and goes on daily walks with other dogs in the neighborhood. 'Jers' as been with us for almost two years and benefitted from good nutrition, socialization and lots of love. While 'Carl' may be the intended name of the rottie in children's books, to our daughter, the books truly feature 'Jersey'.

October 11, 2007 - Jersey is improving with her obedience classes and is very responsive to many commands. Full of energy, she loves to run when she should walk but at least she stopped chasing the cats! She is ultimately patient with her 15 month old human companion and we expect that Jersey will be sleeping in her room before long! She loves going to outdoor camp when the family is away on trips and makes the rounds in the neighborhood on her daily afternoon walks with her dog walker and companions. While we think she would prefer a larger open space, she seems to be adjusting to living in the city but no longer on the streets!

July 10, 2007 - Paul writes: "I hope you are well, just wanted to send along a photo of Safira (now Jersey).  Jersey has settled in well, and still tends to be a bit crazy at times, but otherwise enjoys life.  She plays with the bulldog that lives around the corner and has won the hearts of our dog walker and several other local dog owners.  She and the baby are buddies, and Jersey instinctively gets out of the way now that Maura is actively pushing one of her toys around everywhere.  We have found a trainer as well as a group class in Roxbury, and although I never have to pick her up to get her in the car, she still hides on the floor. "

May 3, 2007 - Safira, now Jersey, was adopted by Paul, Tara, their daughter and kitties in Massachusetts.

Are you that special person who understands and deserves the unconditional love this Rottie princess enthusiastically shares? Not yet 2 years old, Safira was cruelly neglected and possibly abused by the very people she trusted. Careful evaluation of this girl's right front leg by one of the finest orthopedic surgeons in the area revealed and old fracture that was never medically treated, leaving her with a permanent limp! Her pure heart remains unbroken, and she shares her innocent joy with all. This correctly marked and docked young lady bestows endless kisses on anyone fortunate enough to meet her!! This perfect companion worships you with her expressive eyes, rolling over readily to invite your touch. Belly rubs and massages send her into a trance, and peace and contentment reign in her presence. Not the choice for an active family always on the go. . .Safira will grace your devoted home with acceptance and unreserved love. Although playful with large male dogs, she would prefer to live without female competition. Safira is the ideal candidate to train as a Therapy Dog. . . .her positive attitude is contagious, and she symbolizes courage. It is impossible to feel sad in Safira’s company.. Please fill out our adoption application if you are interested in any of our dogs
