Montana

March 24, 2008 - Montana writes: Hi Aunt Dale:

My mom said that you wanted pictures of beautiful me frolicking in my backyard, and so today she took a few to send to you.  I've lost about 7 pounds since arriving from NY, and I'm a svelte girl.  The last photo you can see my underbelly all shaved but still beautiful.

I continue to enjoy breezy mornings, warm days, frolicking with sisters and tennis balls, chasing birds in late afternoon and sleeping in the hugest bed you've ever seen.  Yes, humans share the bed with me too, as do the other two rotties in the house.  My dad Jack has a houseful of women - he enjoys it.  It is his harem.

Here I am in all my splendor.  More pictures to come (I had just gotten a bath about an hour before these photos were taken.  Lots of curly hair I have Aunt Dale - lots).

January 4, 2008 - Montana was adopted by Cara, Jack, Carmen & Aimee from sunny Arizona. Montana writes:

Just wanted you to know that I'm 'laying back' here in AZ with my new family.  Rottweilers get the leather couch in this house (no floor for me) so Lil Bit and I get to take our naps on a nice leather couch.  Carmen and my mom are relegated to the floor - oh it's so good to be queen of the rotten-weiler world.

I like my new dad a lot - he's very kind to me and I think he's pretty cute too.  Carmen is sharing him with me, which says a lot, since Carmen doesn't often share her dad.  Guess it's because I'm so cute myself!

My mom would have sent photos of her with me and my sisters, except someone has to work to keep us in the style to which we've become accustomed...............You'll notice from the photos below that Lil Bit and I find great joy in lazing around, and so does my dad at night.

I love my backyard - I frolic in it a lot.  I love to chase all the birds in the trees.  Carmen thinks I'm crazy, and Lil Bit gets all agitated when she sees me trolling the periphery of the fence chasing those things with wings....I do my dive and rolls on the nice green grass and my mom and dad play with my belly.  They think I'm a big clown.  I like it here at the Scottsdale Rottie Resort.

I'm adjusting very well here.  My mom is already training me in The Dog House rules, and aside from a little counter surfing for treats, I'm doing very, very well.  She's always telling me I'm a good girl and a pretty one at that - I know!

We get our pictures taken professionally this week-end - the whole pack, dog and human.  My mom said that it is important that we have a family portrait now that there is another girl in the pack.   There are adoption announcements to send out - it's very big news at the Dog House!  Here are amateur photos of how I'm spending my time here.................

Montana was once known as Betsy in the shelter. A stray from Manhattan, Montana was described by volunteers as: "A nice gal. She is friendly, walks briskly and totally minds her own business with other dogs. She is housetrained. Her coat has a silvery reflection. She also knows simple commands. She is a little overfed or may not have received the exercise a dog her age needs (she's 4 years old). She appears healthy otherwise. A very good and solid dog. She is good with other dogs and has no resource/food guarding issues." Montana is now in a boarding kennel, which saved her life, but would really prefer a home of her own. Montana has not been tested with small animals or children. Montana is in New York state, just over the Pittsfield MA border. Please fill out our adoption application if you are interested in any of our dogs
