Isabella is as close as you get to the perfect dog. She has such charm and charisma that she is loved by everyone who meets her, everywhere she goes. She smiles wide with her nub moving so fast you can't help but laugh. Joy just radiates from this 3-1/2 year old pup.

Isabella has impecible manners. She is just fabulous on a leash, making walking her a nice leisurely experience. She is completely housebroken and good when left alone. When Isabella meets a new person she does not jump up, but rather all 4 feet remain on the floor patiently waiting to be pet. She is a cuddler but she does not overstay her welcome. She will take all the petting that you are willing to give then she will find a nice place to lay down. She knows all of her basic commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, and Come. Isabella has a moderate energy level. She does not demand or require alot of exercise.

Isabella is just fine with dogs of all sizes on leash and in social settings. If she were to be placed in a home with another dog, a submissive male would be best. She likes to rule the roost and she lets all the other dogs know it. A home without kitties would be recommended.

Her foster mom insists that she is the nicest foster she has ever had and would gladly keep her if she could. That in itself says it all!! She is in a Capital District of NY foster home.

Update 9/16 - Isabella had surgery today to correct a torn crutiate. She came through the operation with flying colors like the trooper that she is! Her recouperation time will be about 6-8 weeks. I will post updates here about her progress. I encourage anyone who is interested in adopting Sweetie to complete the application now so that everything will be all set when she is ready to go home. This is one AMAZING dog....don't loose out on her.

Update 9/21 - Well, it is the first day of spring and Isabella and I are enjoying the nice weather. We both know it won't be around that much longer. Isabella came back home from surgery yesterday and she is doing wonderfully. I completely expected her to be this frail, incapacitated pup but I find she is just the opposite. I am actually having a hard time keeping her from wanting to walk and play on it. Her wound is closed with staples and so far it looks to be healing perfectly (fingers crossed). Her attitude and temperment are wonderful and she is happy to be back in her own bed.

Update 9/26 - Isabella had the staples removed today and the vet said her incision looked great. She was so well behaved even though a few of the staples had to be wrenched out in what had to be an uncomfortable proceedure. It would be difficult to tell that she even had surgery last week if it wasn't for the shaved leg. She is getting around very well and I am having to hold her back from running around.

Update 10/12 - Well today is Isabella's 4th birthday. She enjoyed her day laying around in the sun and loving on the neighbors small kids who came over to visit her. She was just wonderful with them. She actually seemed energized by the little guy, giving him lots of kisses. Her leg is coming along nicely and according to the doctor's orders we are going to start our walks on Tuesday. We can do three 15 minute walks a day and I know she is going to love getting out and not having to look at the same 4 walls all day everyday. Isabella is a saint since she is not bouncing off the walls after 4 weeks of relative confinement. She never ceases to amaze me!

Update 10/18 - Today Isabella had her first day out on the town in 5 weeks. We popped in on the adoption clinic and she was thrilled to see all the people and other dogs. Even though temperatures were in the 50's, I indulged her by driving with her window down. She rested her head on the sill of the window and enjoyed all the fresh fall air. She really enjoys her car rides and she couldn't be a better passenger. At the end of our long day we came home to relax by the heat of the woodstove. As I type she is asleep on the couch next to me.

Update 10/25 - Isabella continues to recouperate very well. We have been walking daily to build up the muscles in her leg. She just wants to go, go, go. Isabella is now almost 6 weeks post surgery and this is almost the point at which she can be adopted. If the adopter has no other dogs and not alot of stairs to get into the house then she could go home within the next week or two. If the adopter has no other dogs but lives on a second floor then it would be about 3-4 weeks before she could go home. If the adopter had another dog then she would be available to go home in about 5-6 weeks. Isabella has had a few potential adopters but nothing definite yet. In one case the adopters current dog was very nasty to her (although Isabella was just wonderful). In another case the folks are interested but have not fully committed yet so she is still available for adoption. This is not a dog to pass up....
