Roxanne

June 5, 2010 - Roxy was adopted by Maureen and Peter of New Hampshire. Mauren writes: "Roxy is doing awesome!  She is such a good girl.  I think she is really adjusting well.  She loves going around the whole house checking outside through each window.  She has seen two small dogs over the past week and truly does not like them too much, but she corrects easily.  She follows me into every room, even the bathroom.  She has a very even temperament and has never once all week put up her hackles –she is a confident dog in all situations, not a  fearful dog.  She is low key and very affectionate! Anyway, you guys already know all this.  "

Roxy is a happy go lucky sweet dog. She is very loving and loves to be rubbed and brushed. She is a beautiful dog with very pretty face and great markings and expressive eyes. Roxy is estimated to be around 4 years old so isn't active like a puppy and is easy going and flexible with walks and schedules. She loves to entertain herself with her toys and bones (and is slightly toy possessive) so she doesn't need constant attention. She will follow you around the house and plop down to snooze where ever you are. When she knows I'm alarmed (when she puts something in her mouth from the beach) she will even allow me to put my fingers in her mouth to retrieve it. She has a charming personality and often makes me laugh and smile. She is a great companion and her presence will definitely be missed in my home. She wouldn't do well in a home that the people are gone a lot, she definitely wants to be around her master....or anyone for that matter. Shes very friendly with all people and will give you a look if someone doesn't chat with her on your walks as if to say "what's wrong with them?" She also knows a few commands and will do almost anything for a treat. She doesn't beg or jump up on people.

Now there are a few challenges that come with Roxy. She doesn't get along well with smaller dogs - particularly white fluffy ones. She will pull on the leash trying to go after them.... and at 80lbs and all muscle she is very strong. She also tends to pull on the leash and "walk me" yet I think this can be trained out of her. Other then that there are no bad habits.

Roxy is on supplements (~$10/mo) for arthritis, and does well with them. Although this definitely doesn't stop her from her daily walks, if there were no or few stairs in her new home that would be ideal.
