BamBam

November 30, 2010 - Bam Bam was adopted by Kristin & Mike. Kristin writes: "Thud...thudthudthudthudthud!

No one thing or person emotes quite like a dog with those inquisitive eyes, a tilt of the head and that wide panting grin. Add in an ever-pounding-thumping-whacking-smacking tail and you've officially met Bam-Bam, our family's newest "ambassador of zeal."  Looking now at his shiny, plush coat, it's hard to believe that he first came into rescue with mange and practically no hair. As the perfect hugger and 45lb. lap dog, it's also difficult to understand how Bam-Bam waited eight long months in boarding for a foster home.  When Aunt Kristine took a well-deserved vacation, Bam-Bam came to stay with us for just a week.  One week turned into two and into a month, and pretty soon it was impossible to imagine life without this little juggernaut. In all honesty, Bam's clumsy, goofball antics and longing eyes had me hooked in hours!

Not all dogs come into rescue as the perfect pet (although who wants a Stepford Pooch, anyway!?). Bam-Bam has been a true star, working to navigate staircases, sit for his leash and keep all four paws on the ground when meeting new friends. The real work falls on my shoulders to be a patient listener and strong guide as I introduce him to his new surroundings. Nothing has been more rewarding then to watch Bam-Bam and Jackson playing on the beach, chasing after tennis balls and then each other, and ending each night, burrowed in the bed sheets. I'm not really sure how Bam-Bam spent the first few years of his life, but I do know he's thoroughly enjoying today.  "

Bam-Bam is our 4 year old silly boy who enjoys playing fetch and going crazy playing in the yard. He is like an energizer bunny that can keep going and going, but once done with exercise Bam-Bam is ready for his naptime. Yes, he likes his regular naptime.

Occasionally Bam-Bam gets jumpy and over-excited which causes him to get mouthy. We are working with him on this issue and he has definitely made progress. He is a smart guy and he means so well. He gets very exuberant when he meets new people but he's recently learned to sit and wait until he is introduced, even though what he'd love to do is jump up and give hugs and be best friends instantly. Bam-Bam walks well on his Easy Walk Leash and is so happy to be exploring the world.

Bam-Bam is a real cutie and we consider him our fun-sized boy since he's only 35 pounds. He would like to go home with someone who has lots of new tricks to teach him, lots of enthusiasm, time, patience and most of all, lots and lots of love.
