October 5, 2010 - Dixie was adopted by Annette.

This is Dixie. She is a 5 year old Rottweiler in need of a loving forever home. She and her Rottie mate were surrendered to a local pound due to a family move. Dixie has been spayed, dewormed, is negative for heartworms, and is up to date on shots. She is very loving, gentle, and playful, and of course will take all the affection you are willing to give, and then some. We do not know for sure, but it appears she is getting over having had puppies not long ago. In spite of this, she is in fairly good weight at 85 pounds, and is on the medium side size for a female Rottie. She has beautiful mahogany markings and lovely expressive dark eyes. She is OK with cats, plays well with her foster mom's other two large dogs, and pretty much ignores the small Poodle in the family. She has shown no aggression and only barks when there is actually something to bark at. She does get a little rowdy when playing with a human, so if new owners have children, they will need to supervise until she learns just how much rowdy the kids can tolerate. Most Rottie females are very gentle with kids, but since there are no children in my household I don't know how she will be. I suspect she will be great. She does not appear to have had any obedience training but has learned to go in her crate with a little encouragement. She responds well to a human being her alpha figure, is very willing to please, and should be a joy to train. She has not had an accident in the house or her crate. Dixie is a Confederate Canine. $350 adoption fee. She joins us in early October.
