February 12, 2011 - Butch was adopted by WendyLee and Doug from New Hampshire
This 18 month old rottie man was stray in the urban jungle of New York City just before Christmas. At 84 lbs, this boy needs to gain about 20 lbs. The volunteer who worked most with him said: "Butch is a huge Rotweiler who could use to gain 15 more pounds! He would then be the beautiful dog he was meant to be doted with a shiny black coat, elegant markings and a strong but engaging face. Butch is a gentle giant, not treated well by life. He is easy to handle, walks wonderfully well and seems (it is kind of expected for such a large animal) to be housetrained. Butch is quite nice with other dogs even rambunctious puppies trying to play with him and barking. Butch is a cool guy! After our walk, Butch and I sat down for a "conversation". Butch knows the command:sit and stay. He positioned himself very close to me and placed his head in my chest. Butch has a tender soul and is very affectionate toward humans. Butch has a very good behavioral evaluation with only moderate food guarding, quite a constant findings for Rotweilers, dogs used in so many parts of the world to..."guard". Butch is a stunning dog who needs....now tender loving care. He is waiting for his new family."
Butch passed his evaluation well, showing slight guarding around his food bowl (no surprise given that he's underweight). He is social with other dogs and very people friendly. Kids over 8 for Butch because of his unknown history and resource guarding.
