Coco
The only words on this girl's surrender paperwork at an urban shelter were "Landlord". Speculation would have it that "rottweilers are not allowed". Coco is a large girl at 103# (she should be more like 85#) City living didn't do her well - she didn't get the benefits of long walks through Central Park or along the Hudson. Coco is social with other medium and large dogs. She is interested in small animals, but will "leave it" when told. Coco is house trained, rides well in the car and knows basic commands - in English. Coco is an awesome house guest and will fit well in most families. Coco is currently living in foster care with another rottweiler and is leash walked every day in a condo complex. She loves to hike an dhas taken off many of her pesky pounds already. Coco is an excellent companion and has no reason not to have her own family. Coco is in New Hampshire. Please fill out our adoption application if you are interested in any of our dogs |
Clara
Meet Clara. Her story is not for the faint hearted We are seeking an angel on Earth to care for this tortured dog for the rest of her life. Clara is 9 or 10 years old and has suffered such unspeakable abuse and neglect that she lost one eye and has limited vision in the remaining one. She has just three teeth left after being repeatedly kicked by her "owner" who is now serving time in prison for this abuse. Most of her teeth were gone when she was rescued, and the rest were removed at the veterinary hospital. She weighed just 49 pounds when she arrived in rescue, and is now a healthier 60 pounds. When the members of Kodi's Club agreed to take Clara in, because her options were running out at the veterinary hospital, we really didn't know what to expect. We see now that Clara can adjust to a routine and will appreciate and thrive in an experienced and appropriate home. We seek an extremely patient Good Samaritan who will insure that Clara's remaining time will be filled with comfort, care, and pure love. Kodi's Club will provide all veterinary care for the duration of Clara's life. We will also provide training and whatever support is necessary to guarantee her quality of life. We are now seeking a very special home so Clara can live out her days in comfort and peace. If ever a dog truly deserves it, Clara does. If you think you have the home and the heart to help this tortured soul that can teach us all something about forgiveness, then please call Lisa at 914-589-8418. Clara is in New York. |
Sheila
Okay all you Rottie lovers, meet beautiful five-year-old Sheila! Unfortunately, due to a death in her family, she is now looking for a new home. Sheila is a well-mannered girl who knows some of her commands, never likes to be far from a tennis ball, and adores a game of fetch with her human friends. She loves to go for daily walks, and is good on a leash. She is a large and healthy girl (approx. 80+ pounds), and so she is hoping to find a strong new family! Sheila looks forward to spending time with her new family and getting lots of hugs and scratches on the head. She is very skilled at listening to her human friends as they tell her stories, gazing intently at you with her loving eyes. Sheila is unaccustomed to/frightened by small children and was an only dog in her previous home. She will talk back to dogs who approach her quickly and/or show aggression toward her, and so she would prefer to be the only pet in her new home. Sheila is at Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton Inc., Hopkinton, MA (508)435-6938 / bhsh@baypathhumane.org |

Are you the right family to show Zeus the world so far denied him? He's lived his short life as a "guard" dog, and were it not for the fact he was hit by a truck that failed to see him at the business site, he would have been a guard dog for life. This beautiful 8 month-old docked boy has had surgery to repair his broken shoulder from that life altering accident, and now, neutered and UTD on shots, he is looking to relocate to a loving family dedicated to helping him to recover fully as his surgeon anticipates. This pup is fostered with two other large dogs, and is social with cats. In a short two weeks, this "outdoors man" learned to reliably eliminate outside, and is completely housebroken. He is a most loving companion, and is a favorite in his neighborhood when he takes his evening "constitutional". We are seeking a dominant-dog experienced family with the love and patience to help in Zeus's rehabilitation. He deserves nothing less, and will repay your efforts by becoming the Rottie ambassador he was always meant to be! Can you offer him the "life all dogs deserve" coupled with the structure and training a young Rottie needs? You can make a world of difference to Zeus, and add one more canine good citizen to this word! If you would like to learn more about this sweet young man, please complete the application. You will be amply rewarded. Zeus is available through Paws for Love in New Jersey |

Smokey, at four years old, is transforming into a living ice sculpture who will stimulate curiosity and conversation everywhere she goes! She has a condition known as vitaligo, which is simply a loss of pigment. Her black coat and the black leather of her nose and pads are slowly becoming white. While not life threatening at all, this does create a spectacular companion! Our lady is people-focused and friendly. She leans to accept your pets. Since she has a tendency to guard her dinner, we recommend that she be placed in a dominant-dog experienced home with kids over 12 years old. The right home can make the world of difference to this spectacular Rottie who waits in the Bergen County Animal Shelter, 100 United Lane, Teterboro, N.J. 07608. Call 201-229-4600 for more information about this stunning dog. Email: shelter@co.bergen.nj.us |
Sasha is a 5-year old female rottweiler with a beautiful natural tail, weighing in at about 85 lbs. Sasha enjoys the company of other dogs, although she will position herself to be the dominant one whenever possible. Sasha lives peacefully with three cats, in fact, she quite likes them and has been caught in a kitty snuggle more than once.
She loves long walks and chasing a tennis ball around the yard, and is happiest when she has a good amount of exercise and playtime every day. She is crate-trained, house-trained, spayed, and current with all vaccinations. In her quiet moments with a trusted human, she loves to kiss and snuggle. Sasha also has some issues with fear aggression. She is very uncomfortable at the vet and having her nails trimmed. She also needs some work in controlling her energy when she gets excited about something, she doesn’t always know how to deal with it. These are things that have shown improvement over the past year, but still need some work. Sasha will need a home without small children (although she likes children just fine, it’s just a safety precaution), and with an owner who is experienced in dealing with dominant dogs, and who will provide a disciplined and structured environment for her, where she can thrive and continue to learn how to be the best dog she can be. More information: loyaldog@comcast.net, 603 475 5575. Sasha is in NH. |

Honestly - we know there are more dogs out there who need homes. Each month, an email is sent to at least 25 folks who regularly place dogs and I publish the responses. If you regularly keep in contact with a shelter in the North East and want to add a dog regularly to our list, please email me privately and I will contact you each month for your submission! |
