Available Rottweilers

Ursa

(If this photo doesn't tug on your heart strings, nothing will... ) There is an adult, female Rottie named Ursa at the Brookhaven shelter who needs to get out of there. She has been there since 4/05, and is going stir-crazy. Volunteers report that she is a real mush. She LOVES people and loves to play with her tennis ball. As you will see from her photo, she has that beautiful, loving Rottie face o:) Please contact companionpets@optonline.net for more information. Ursa is in New York.

Hanna

Holy Hanna, as they say. This rottie girl was surrendered to the shelter by her owner siting "landlord problems". What he failed to tell the shelter was that Hanna had been intentionally bred to another rottweiler and that she was pregnant. Because of this, Hanna did not get the prenatal care she needed, and when her puppies were born six weeks later (still at the shelter), they did not survive. In the meantime, Hanna is now in a foster home with young children and other dogs. She is a friendly and happy house guest but really wants a family of her own. Hanna's former owner turned her in saying that she was 8 yrs old, and had lived with kids and other dogs. Cats are unknown. Hanna's behaviors tell us she's a bit more like 5 years old - and she is playful and happy. Please fill out our adoption application if you are interested in any of our dogs. Please visit www.4theloveofdog.org. She is currently in New Hampshire.

Spice

Hi! My name is Spice. I love every person I meet. I like most people but some men frighten me and I bark to keep them away. When out for a walk I'm in a hurry and pull to get where I'm going.I need a lot of exercise. I love to play with other dogs. I should be okay going to a home with kids 8 and up. I am very eager to learn basic manners and will work well for a taste of my favorite treat. I like to play with people but need to be taught not to jump up. I like to pee and poop outside but I haven't learned yet not to go inside too. Confinement and a walking schedule will aid in housetraining. I love to be stroked and cuddled. I should be great for an owner with some experience. Spice is about 8 months old and is at the ASPCA in New York. Please contact Ben for more information.

Magic

Magic is a 6 yr old Rottweiler. We have had Magic since he was 8 weeks old. You would not believe how laid back and lovable he is. He's not a dog, he's a BABY! He loves attention, he thrives on it. He enjoys lots of lovin'..brush, bathe, cuddle him, or rub behind his ears and he is your friend for life! Magic is a big dog - tall AND chubby! He thinks he's still a puppy, and tries to get his 140 pound body in my lap!

Magic "graduated" from Obedience Tales School in North Providence in 2000..where he went for 2 semesters! He follows basic commands like: sit, stay, down, heel, paw, and my favorite his "Pretty Boy" beg! When on the leash, he is strong, but one quick tug, and a command, he's obedient and heels and walks. He gets along very well with other dogs, and he has never met a cat, so i don't know how he would react. We don't have small kids, but our friends children used to use him as a pony! (YES, he is THAT big) and he never minded having the baby "riding" on his back. We have a fenced in yard, and Magic has the run of the property. He's never been tied up or chained, crated or penned in. He loves our (his) big yard, it's like his Ponderosa! He walks the fence line several times daily..it is HIS territory and he does bark if someone gets too close to the fence. We live next door to a day-care center and he likes when the kids call his name and wave to him.

Magic LOVES to go for a ride..he is out the door before i can get my jacket on! He plays with his toys, catches and fetches sticks, balls, squeeky toys, etc. We have left him home alone for a few hours, and he NEVER, EVER chewed or destroyed anything! He does not eat when he is alone in the house, but when we return WOW! Can he chow down a meal! LOL Magic does NOT like bicycles, skateboards, wheelchairs, exercise bikes, baby carriages. There must be something about the sound the wheels make. All his shots are UTD, and his vet records are available.

MAGIC IS IN PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND or you may phone 401-232-1925. You can also contact Gail who is in Maine.

Honestly - we know there are more dogs out there who need homes. Each month, an email is sent to at least 25 folks who regularly place dogs and I publish the responses. If you regularly keep in contact with a shelter in the North East and want to add a dog regularly to our list, please email me privately and I will contact you each month for your submission!
