Available Rottweilers

Leeba

Bodacious and beautiful, Leeba is a 5-6 year old female Rottweiler surrendered because her owners were expecting a baby and believed that Leeba's greeting skills would be a problem. Leeba is a powerful, athletic girl who needs far more exercise than she has been receiving and is carrying some extra weight as a result. Leeba is described by her former owners as loyal and loving, although Leeba, like most Rottweiler's, likes to be in charge, and without firm, fair leadership will gladly appoint herself captain of the team. Leeba has not been taught an alternate behavior to barking and carrying on when visitors come to the door, but she is highly food motivated and could be taught to go to her bed or sit quietly until asked to greet. Owning a dog bred for protection and guarding requires careful management and respect for their natural tendencies to take the job of protector seriously. It is unrealistic to expect a Rotti to slobber and coo over visitors, as this is completely against the nature of most, and is in no way a character flaw. Leeba has shared her home successfully with a male dog, and is said to like some but not all dogs, and may not fare well with another female. She has also lived with cats, but not for several years. Leeba was often chained out in her yard and practiced in inappropriate behavior with pedestrians and other animals. New owners are urged to keep Leeba safely indoors when she is alone, as her house manners are excellent and she will not be forced to defend her turf and practice end-of-the-chain frustration. Leeba is said to be allergic to beef, so that has been eliminated from her diet. Leeba loves her food, loves affection and loves to play. For those who appreciate, respect and have a soft spot for the intelligence, devotion and loyalty of the Rottweiler, Leeba is a magnificent representative of her breed. Leeba has never lived with children, and at her age will not be placed in a home with those under the age of 13.

Leeba is available through the Animal Refuge League, 449 Stroudwater St., Westbrook Maine - Phone: 207-854-9771

Grace

Grace is our other female Rotti who came to us as a stray. She is approx. 1-2 yrs old and is a great girl with an equally great temperament. Graces only problem is she lacks self confidence. She is extremely loving & people oriented, when she first came in she was terrified but has since really come around. She really needs to be placed in the right home, something which is tough in a shelter environment no matter how hard we try. If anyone can help or suggest someone else or another organization I would greatly appreciate. Also, both girls will be spay & get a rabies shot before leaving the shelter. Grace is available through the Huntington (Long Island, NY) shelter by contacting Liz at Liz Maffe 631-754-8722 W 8-4 Sun-Thurs, or emailing her .

Hesta

Hesta was one of 8 living puppies born in early February. Over the course of the first three weeks, four of her siblings died - several from being stepped or laid on by their overly exhuberant, overweight mom. Her three sisters managed not to be underfoot when mom was getting excited. Hesta wasn't so lucky.

Hesta is now 8 weeks old and developmentally is about two weeks behind her siblings. Veterinary examinations suggest that Hesta has some brain damage as the result of trauma. Hesta was a fighter, tho and wasn't going to give in like her siblings. Hesta eats, runs and plays normally, she is learning to eliminate on newspaper, she gives kisses and is very sweet. She is about half of the size of her siblings.

Hesta will always be a little slower to develop compared to puppies her own age. At this time, however, we can not determine if that is the only detrement - and that she'll just be a "slower" puppy. Hesta is availble in late April/May to a home who will provide her love and companionship, will take her to basic obedience classes, will be patient with her as she will need a little "extra". We expect Hesta to go home sometime after 12 weeks, so we can make sure that there are no "surprises" in her development. More photos. Serious inquiries only

Momma Trudy

Sweet loving devoted and dumped in a snowstorm, pregnant, by an idiot owner, Momma came here into rescue and had her puppies just 3 days later!! All puppies were healthy and happy and have all been adopted! And now Momma needs a home-she is a young (3-4) adult, medium size, VERY placid and accepting of ALL dogs and would probably do well with cats too! She is a very low key low energy dog who will follow you around the yard all day !She now has a gorgeous coat, has been treated for her Lyme disease, is on heartworm prev (was diagnosed a faint HWT pos) and will be spayed April 6!! All this in 3 short months. Her smile and waggin tail nub will melt your heart- to think what she has been through and still wants someone to love! Please call and visit Momma soon! She is in CT and available through Cathy's Rottie Rescue.

Bebe

Bebe is a large, blocky rottweiler female (probably 100 lbs). About 5-6 years old, she is in very good shape. She is correctly marked, docked and has a square head and scrunched in face. She passed our temperament evaluation to the letter. She is people focused, and especially likes men. She is cuddly and snuggly and a real leaner - loving people-attention to anything else. She knows basic commands - sit, down, shake, and walks well on lead (after one correction). She allowed complete handling. She passed food, toys and rawhides without an issue. Loves to play ball and will catch better than any major league outfielder. Led by collar, hugged, lifted paws, checked teeth & ears, etc. All fine. She was pushy with a NM rottweilerX when they both were vying for attention. She showed no interest in smaller dogs or cats, although I'd use caution on placing her in a multi-animal home. She would be best as an only dog or with another dog who was not "in her face". Small animals possible with an owner who is consciencious and will monitor.

Bebe has two things going against her that many people don't understand: first, she is a talker. second, she has wrinkles on her face and eyebrows (like some rotties do - not a deformation) that make her look like she's scowling. Her body language and posture, however, show no aggression and her nub is going the whole time she's talking. Bebe is available through Buddy Dog Humane Society in Sudbury MA. 978-443-6990

Queenie

Queenie is a 2 to 2.5 yr. 65 lb. female Rottweiler, she is up to date on all shots, Heartworm neg., on preventative, spayed and is micro chipped. Queenie is good with other dogs, and has grown up with children. Queenie knows a lot of her commands, listens very well, and is house-trained. Queenie is a bit camera shy, hence the quality of her pictures, but is very friendly and loving. Queenie lost her home because her family was moving and could not take her with them.

If you would like to give this sweet Girl a good home, please fill out an application on our web site. She is available through Majesty Rottweiler Rescue in Maryland, or contact Terry if you would like more information.

Fidel

Fidel, or Del as he is known to his friends, is both lucky and unlucky at the same time. This 17 month-old purebred Rottweiler was injured several months ago when his owner ran over him while backing his car out of the driveway. Although they immediately rushed the poor boy to an 24-hour ER, the damage to his legs proved too costly for the young couple to afford. Tearfully, they gave permission for his humane euthanasia. Rescue was called, and Del got the expert help he desperately needed. Surgery was performed on BOTH rear legs and the plucky pup could walk and run again! He was returned to his grateful family and stayed with them until they suffered a change of fortune. They knew they could not afford to keep Del, so they did the responsible thing and surrendered him to the rescue who helped save his life.

Del is a large boy with a natural "European" tail. He is social with other dogs, both male and female. His mesmerizing eyes, those same eyes that once pleaded with us to help him, miss nothing. This baby-faced young adult is understandably people-focused and desires a family with time for backyard play and long walks. A daily dose of affordable glucosamine is all that is needed to prevent arthritis from setting in at the site of his injury. This precaution means that he can be expected to enjoy a long and active life. Del is a perfect dog for a person in the animal services, but any dedicated, conscientious animal lover would be lucky to share this boy's journey. Meet Del who is fostered in northern N.J. and learn that "Fidel" truly personifies "faithful". Please complete the online adoption form to arrange a meeting with this sweetheart. Come meet her. Phone her foster Mom, Linda, at (973) 812-9749 or e-mail ComanchesMom1@netzero.net to meet Josie. View more at Paws for Love.

Ms Molly

Molly is a 4 year old female Rottweiler. Completely housetrained, crate trained, spayed and up to date on vaccinations, she's a small girl, weighing only 65 pounds. Molly's energy is best described as medium. She is a great walking/hiking partner and walks well on lead (flat collar only, please). Molly has mastered the "sit" and "down" commands and will need some consistent work on the length of her "stay" time. Molly does best crated when you cannot supervise her and must be told "off" if she tries counter surfing. You see, Molly is pretty food -oriented (a plus for training opportunities). Molly will eat ravenously as if she fears you'll take her food bowl away, but she is not food aggressive.

The ideal home for Molly is one where she is the only dog. While she would get along with another male dog she would thrive on the attention of being an only dog. She really is precious one on one. Molly is timid around men. She will keep her distance and "alert" bark upon first encountering you. It takes her a while to warm up to you. Once she does she's a Velcro dog, preferring to spend her time lounging at your feet or following you around. Her favorite activity is going for rides in a car, where she also feels secure. A fenced-in yard would be great for Molly to excercise in. No children under 12 years of age.

Currently she is living with her mom and 3 dogs. Try as they might Molly and her Dalmatian sister just can't get along, so she needs to find her own home. Molly is in CT. Please contact Gail via email or by calling Linda at 203-715-7911.
