Dale's Note

I can't believe summer is winding down already! It seems like I was just headed to the beach for the first time ... a few weeks ago!

Fall hiking is one of my favorite things to do with the dogs - not too hot, not too buggy, and here in the Monadnocks, the scenery is just glorious! If you haven't checked it out already, there are some absolutely fantastic hikes in the Monadnocks that are dog friendly... (Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey is NOT one of them.) Check out the many trails at Crotched Mountain in Bennington, Pack Monadnock in Peterboro, The Harris Center in Hancock, the Monadnock-Sunapee ridge that stretches for more than 50 miles, and the Wapack trail from New Ipswich to Greenfield . Make sure to prepare your dog if you're venturing on these hikes -- some of them are quite challenging. EMS has a great book on hiking in the Monadnock region -- I have done many of these hikes.

Another great short hike will be at Hopkinton State Park in Massachusetts on September 18. That's the same day and location as our Friends & Family BBQ. I will be there Romping with the rotties and pitties and hope you will be too. C'mon - let's face it - you know you wanna go. Who cares if it's rained for the last three years?! Great food, great people, lots of GREAT DOGS -- your dog doesn't need to be a rescued dog to be there either.

If you're not going to go, please, then, sponsor someone (like me...) and support the rescue's activities. But really, I hope you do come to the event. I will even organize a group hike at noon, if you join us (you have to email me and tell me, tho!)

Woof & wiggle butts to everyone

~Dale

Foster homes for rottweilers and bully breed dogs are greatly needed. If you can open your heart to an extra dog, it will be rewarding for you, beyond compare. Apply to foster
