Hagrid

April 15, 2005 - Hagrid's doing just great! The weather has been great and my two girls have kept him busy playing outside, taking him around the neighborhood to meet everyone (people and animals alike) and teaching him to sit.

Now that he has his own toys, he rarely gnaws on people. He does however have a fondness for other dogs' ears as the poor golden across the street learned when he came over to play. He is doing very well sitting on command (works most of the time) and we've started on learning to lie down and to stay. He knows to sit when putting on and taking off his leash. He doesn't jump on people much and he's doing quite well sitting down when meeting someone new.

He loves to play ball and is learning to "give" as well as to "drop" when he picks up something he shouldn't. He seems to have a thing for trying to eat small rocks and acorns but he's very good about letting me put my hand in his mouth to remove whatever is there.

I think he's going to be a mama's boy and he looks to my husband as the "let's play" guy. He's excellent with the girls and will follow them anywhere. They've been riding their bikes and he has absolutely no interest in eating the tires (our last rottie had a thing for wheels). He also enjoys just laying down outside watching the world go by, although he doesn't care for being out alone for very long. Of course, with the two kids that's not really an issue.

As you can see, he's a bit tuckered out and he does get quite a little snore going. And when he's asleep, not much wakes him up. He keeps sneaking onto the couch when no one's looking and I took this picture right before I slid him onto his cushion on the floor (he barely even stirred!). He does smell like a dog though so we'll probably have him groomed in a week or so when I know his incision is fully healed.

Hagrid

This 12-16 week old rottie boy was found stray in Maine. He is sweet and loving, friendly with other dogs and cats and appropriate for his age. This sweetie will be adopted quickly, we're sure, as he sleeps through the night in his crate and is well on his way to being house trained. His photo does him no justice. This is a very cute rottie puppy.
