Niko
July 2, 2005 - Niko was adopted today by Sharon & Gary and their dogs! Niko will travel the country in their travel trailer, cruise around on their boat, and be loved forever. Niko's having the time of his life, loving the grandchildren and enjoying the summers of NH.
August 30, 2005 Update - We went on our first long trip last week. To see the grandchildren in New York. Boy it was fun!!! I made a new friend called Simon on a big farm He has a very friendly horse for a companion, and I made friends with the horse too. The grandchildren love to play with the dogs and kept me and my brothers Dino, a huge (165 lb) Rottie, Shepherd and wolf mix and Bandit (20 lbs) cockapoo mix, really busy I had a great time just being able to run loose and play with Simon, Dino Bandit and the horse. The farm is a beautiful place with beautiful people to love me almost as much as my Mom and Dad do. I hope Mom and Dad take me there again, because I can run free with my brothers and new friends. If I was not good I had to be hitched so I learned very quickly to be a good boy and do what is expected of me. I do like riding in the RV and being able to sit in the co-pilot's chair. It has great beds to sleep on and plenty of room for all of us. I will keep you posted of my adventures with my "forever family"!
Love to all
Niko Munson
Niko
Niko is a male Rottie just under a year old. . neutered and UTD on his shots. he was purchased for $1400.00 from The New York Kennel Club ( a puppy broker). He is tall and lanky, and does not have Dell's beautiful head, but he has a great personality.
Niko's former owner had a baby three weeks ago, and although Niko LOVES the newcomer, she said she is NOT taking care of three kids (they also have a 3 year-old and an 11 year-old) and "that dog"! Niko also slept with a rabbit friend! He is social with all dogs, but really likes little dogs since his first playmate was a Chihuahua. I do not know how he is with cats. Niko then went to live with a friend who asked her landlord if she could have a dog. He agreed, but when he met Niko, he said, "That's not a dog, that's a monster (Niko is tall). He ordered the dog out of the house Saturday, and poor Niko was on his way to a high volume urban shelter when we were called.
He knows sit, down and shake. He walks fairly well on lead. He will roll over readily for a belly rub. He is open and friendly and people-focused. He is not interested at all in rawhides, bull sticks, or pig's ears, but he hovered over a squeaky toy. . .not growling or snarling, just hovering. He traded it for a liver treat. He is mildly possessive of canned food (something he never had) and is easily re-focused when in its presence. He can easily be worked with on this issue (if you choose to feed canned food). He has never had an issue with possessiveness with his former family. Hope you like him!
